Tree Braids, Sew in Weaves, Locs, Micros etc....

People wear hair extensions for different reasons.
There are many different styles to choose from; tree braids, sew in weave, quick weave with invisible part, hairlocks, interlocks, twists, kinky twist, senegalese twists, post weave, brazilian weave, cornrows, feed-in corns rows, crochet and the list goes on. Not to mention the different techniques that are used to apply them.

Just like styles of clothing in fashion, we like our hair to look accordingly. So when we wear a formal dress, we want a formal hair style. And when we wear a business suit same goes for that. Also, there are different ways we would wear our hair to fit that occasion.

I notice in Texas they use the term micros to describe a style of braids that we call individuals in California. They are the same thing, it just bothers me because, here I am now doing hair in Texas and these woman use to come to me asking about micros. I tell them that we call them differently in California and micro braids to me are invisible braids and cost a lot! Oh and the city where I am at is small military city. I love it here except for business. I really had to come down on my prices since leaving California. For individuals the average cost is $150, here is $85.   In this town there isn't really a whole lot of wealthy people, but there is a lot of people that need their hair done. So what I did was I starved out the competition by lowering my prices beyond belief without changing the qulity of my service.  What I learned about the women around here in this city, is that they really don't know how to turn what they do into a business. They keep it as a hustle. Hustlers aren't always reliable. They hustle when they need to. Customers want their hair care specialist to by reliable, other wise you remain titled as  their "hair braider" lol. It's true because in the world of cosmetology, braiders don't hardly get any respect. Mainly because they are known as hustlers. They really should up their game, don't you think?

  1. I would have to agree on your blog. Where I'm from in Miami we call them mirco's as well and the cost usually starts off at the price you listed, or more depending on lenght, thickness and how small you want them. But, they provide no care for the hair itself, yea you leave out looking great. But with that comes the headache from the pulling and loss of hair months later. I love my hair and thanks to you I don't have just a HAIR BRAIDER, I have a hair Connoisseur, that loves her art and designs to her best! Love ya girl...thanks again!
